Privacy Policy

AIMOS treats information privacy in line with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act.  

We collect the minimum necessary information about our members, which is: 

  • Your contact details: your name and email address 

  • Your membership history and date of renewal 

We will collect this information directly from you and your payment records. 

We collect this information so that we can maintain membership records. We will use this information to check if you are a member for member-only benefits. We may contact you occasionally with relevant news, such as our conference dates. We may contact you for your opinion on major changes to the society, for example, a change to our regulations. We assume that members and other people who voluntarily provide their email addresses to AIMOS are agreeing to be contacted on such business.

Without your personal information we could not process your membership application or provide reminders of when your membership is due.  

We will delete your information upon the sooner of either a direct request or 12 months expiry of membership.

We will not collect other personal information, share contact details with third parties or contact you on non-Association business. We will only share details with third parties if required by law enforcement. The member database will not be made public.  

AIMOS Inc. stores contact details on cloud servers with password protection, with access limited to current Board members and the Executive Officer.

Any person who has provided their contact details to AIMOS may query, update or have their information removed upon request to the AIMOS Executive Officer at martin.bush@unimelb.edu.au.

AIMOS Inc. has opted in to the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and so any person may make a complaint about the handling of their personal information by AIMOS in writing to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: https://www.oaic.gov.au/.
